Hi there, I’m Ness and I’m a photographer.
I like to capture abstract compositions of everyday moments, illuminating life, sometimes with a sense of wit and playfulNESS, adding to my personal style.
My specialties include urban culture, social documentary and travel.
I graduated from Leeds Met in 2004 and have been travelling the world with my camera ever since. The Global student travel company, STA Travel, sent me to Europe to capture sights for their brochures, website and social networks. Providing them with an image bank for their global coms.
On my travels I found myself fascinated by urban culture and I tend to seek out work with a street sentiment. I’ve produced a photo-book, ‘The Writing’s On The Wall’, on the relationship between street art and the cityscape and I visually documented how they sit alongside each other, with my distinctive, creative style.
I completed a Masters in Photography at Bolton University, which specialised in Social Documentary photography and here I was encouraged to develop my creative ability. My work has been published in The Royal Photographic Society’s Contemporary Photography Journal and they awarded me an Associateship. I have exhibited my work in prestigious venues within Manchester City Centre, such as Chetham’s Library.
Here’s a quote from Elliott Erwitt (my favourite photographer), who says it better than I do:
To me photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
